Our group embarked on a 12-week project to create a puzzle game tailored for elderly residents in a nursing home. By deeply understanding their preferences, we iteratively improved the game's design, making it increasingly popular among them. Ultimately, the game box remained at the nursing home, proving highly beneficial.
Throughout the design journey, we meticulously considered user preferences for game modes and visuals, crafted an instructional manual, logo, and color scheme, and ensured the game box's dimensions for user comfort. We explored various production techniques, including printing manuals and cards, and employing wooden laser cuts for dice and coins.
The game itself involves guessing and dice-rolling to determine players and winners, fostering brain activity, physical coordination, and memory recall among the elderly. It encourages storytelling and strengthens interpersonal connections, enriching their retirement experience together.
